LAYING ON OF HANDS
At FBC we take holding the office of deacon seriously
This old biblical practice, the laying on of hands, occurs when new deacons are added to our FBC family. Last Wednesday two women and one man shared their spiritual journeys with us, There is something special and singular about one’s call to follow Jesus in dedicated service. Today, we the church members, officially confirmed them as deacons. Since our active congregation is medium the laying on of hands can take a long time. No one seemed in a hurry. We’d get out when we would.
DRAW THE CIRCLE WIDE
Our worship hour began with several repeats of the following song:
Draw the circle, draw the circle wide. No one stands alone, we’ll stand side by side, Draw the circle, draw the circle wide.
WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY
Today is world communion Sunday where congregations throughout the world and across denominational lines share in joy around the table. In an increasing globalized world, where differences can be divisive, sharing in the elements of the Lord’s Supper is the quiet constant that unites believers of Christ—that grace, redemption and healing are afforded through the simple sharing of the sacred cup and bread.
