YOUNG JOHN MILLEDGE DEFIES PARSON WHITEFIELD
George Whitefield, zealous over his Bethesda Orphan’s home scurried through the streets and lanes of Savannah picking up organs wherever he found them. No one dared stand up to George Whitefield. One day Geoerge picked up little George and Frances Milledge.
His perfect record was about to be blotched! George and Frances, both under sixteen, John and Sara Milledge were determined to get their brother and sister back. No details as to how they did it have ever been unearthed. However, when Whitefield went north to get financial help for his orphanage the two Milledge kids escaped from the orphanage and never returned.
Later the town of Milledgeville would bear his name and his immediate descendants gave the land foe the University of Georgia
