CHRISTMAS DAY AMONG THE FOURTH QUARTER FOLK
Christmas morning passed just like the regular hours in my daily schedule. I fed and took Ms. Cleo to tend to her daily bathroom duties. I returned read the paper and took a short nap.
Around noon Alan called and we exchanged Christmas greetings. At 12:30 dined with my Alexian friends and ate way too much. The afternoon and night was filled with phone calls from my eldest sister Darcile in Jacksonville, My son Max, who lives in the Key West area, and a phone call from my niece in Savannah, Georgia.
I watch Jimmy Stewart’s, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and segments from Carol Burnette’s old T.V. show.
A cycle closes and a new one waits to be opened. As I have since the beginning of Advent ‘ll savor every tidbit that has drawn me closer to His manger. But mostly I’ll try to give more of myself away in smiles, hugs, buggy assistance, etc. The best gifts really don’t have a price tag on them!
