I STRUCK OUT!
Our annual Senior Olympics in bowling was today. As is customary they gave us six or seven warm up shots. I started out throwing two strikes in a row. When the real competition began it was a looong time before I had another strike.
What went wrong. Was I uptight? Did I want to compete so badly until I lessened my chances?
I really don’t know but one thing is certain. I never pulled out of my slump. Well, I did improve my score each time.
Lord, sometimes our best efforts aren’t enough. Help us to accept our limitations and to remember a single game, good or bad, can’t in and of itself define us. Games are made to be one or loss.
Help us remember the weightier things of sharing justice and loving others are far more revealing about us than our latest score.
