THANKSGIVING PRAYER

LORD, TODAY WE THANK YOU FOR OUR FAMILIES.  WE THANK YOU FOR THOSE WHO, BEING DEAD, STILL LIVE AMONG OUR PRECIOUS MEMORIES.

LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR SONS AND DAUGHTERS, HUSBANDS AND WIVES, BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND KIN FOLK THAT MAKE JUP OUR SPECIAL TRIBES.  THANK YOU FOR THJOSE WHO KNOW ALL OF OUR GOOD, BAD, AND IN BETWEEN TRAITS YET LOVE US STILL.

LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR OUR CLASS.  THANK YOU FOR THE LAUGHS, HUGS AND CARING WE SHARE.  MOST OF ALL WE THANK YOU FOR THE FREEDOM WE ALLOW EACH OTHER AS WE SEARCH TO BE LIKE JESUS.

LORD, THANK YOU FOR OUR CHURCH.  BLESS OUR EFFORTS TO BE FAMILY AND HELP US TO BECOME FAMILY TO THE MARGINALIZED IN OUR MIDST.

LORD, THANK YOU FOR OUR COUNTRY.  MAY WE NEVER BECOME SO CYNICAL THAT WE DON’T GET GOOSEBUMPS WHEN WE HEAR THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER BEING PREFORMED.  HELP US TO PART OF THE SOLUTION IN SOLVING COMLEX NATIONAL ISSUES.

LORD, THANK YOU FOR YOUR WRITTEN WORD.  TODAY, I’M STRUGGLING WITH THAT SCENE IN MATTHEW 25 WHERE YOU SEPARATED THE SHEEP FROM THE GOATS.  IT SAYS, “I WAS SA STRANGER AND YOU TOOK ME IN.”  THAT PHRASE KEEPS RINGING IN MY EARS AND PRICKING MY CONSCIOUS.  LORD, TODAY I’M TORN BETWEEN BEING A SHEEP AND A GOAT.

LORD, HAVE MERCY.  LORD, HAVE MERCY!
