CHRISTMAS EVE VESPERS AT FIRST BAPTIST CHATTANOOGA

The church was packed with members plus visitors.  I go myself a seat down front so I wouldn’t miss a trick.
Since I don’t like risking driving up Signal Mountain in the dark I arranged for the Parkers to pick me up.
The program was simple but profound.  It was a combination of Scripture, special music but mostly congregation singing of our most familiar carols.
Our pastor urged us to accept the grace of receiving.  That hit home with me.  I almost didn’t go to the service because I didn’t won’t to be beholden to some one.  I’m fairly good on giving not only at Christmas time but throughout the year.  I’m not so good at asking for help or receiving it when it’s offered.
After the service and umpteen iPhone photos we went to Waffle House on Cherokee Blvd. for a bite to eat.  That was a fun, bonding time I’ll cherish.
Lord, help me to be a gracious receiver!
