The library staff at First Baptist, Chattanooga, Tennessee, knows of my desire to saturate myself with John Newberry Medal winners in children’s literature.
RFecently the librarian handed me a copy of Crossover. I reluctantly accepted the 2015 medal winner. It’s written in rhyme, hip/hop style.
A funny thing happened to me. I couldn’t put the book down! It has among all its jargon a compelling story of family as told from the view point of a young man who loves to play basketball and will do anything to win even———. Read it for yourself. It is a easy read with an excellent plot.
