                                                    CHEROKEE TIDBITS

Did you know that the bill to remove the Cherokees, against their will, to present day Oklahoma passed the U.S. Congress by one measly vote?  Be sure you exercise your right to vote!

Once Sequoya  invented a Cherokee syllabary the Cherokees learned to read and write within a few weeks.  They also picked up reading, writing, and speaking in English quickly.  By the time of their removal they were more highly literate than their Georgia neighbors.
