POST THANKSGIVING THOUGHTS
My short trip to Jacksonville, Florida, to be with my 95 year-old sister for Thanksgiving was fulfilling and worthwhile.
I always return with a bag of mixed feelings. The aging process is so evident and it hurts/ In many respects she’s only a shell of her former self. However, that didn’t keep her from enjoying my being there. She ate more than sheer has in many many days and course we had many conversations all couched in yesteryears.
It was also good to spend time with my nephew Curtis whom I refer to as our miracle boy. Four years ago the doctor’s discovered he had cancer in the brain. He’s soon to begin his fifth year at being cancer free.
It’s always a challenge to see if I can control my diabetes in an away from home environment. I’m proud to report that I did! It probably goers with out saying that there were lots of food items on the menu that I had to leave off but that’s okay too.
Traveling by Delta was hassle free and for that I’m grateful!
Right now I have Christmas boxes all over my apartment and am busy trying to get my Christmas decorations in place.
Tomorrow is the first Sunday of Advent. Oh how I love this season of the year!
